HOW TO LOOK GOOD IN LINEN

THINK YOU CAN’T LOOK GOOD IN LINEN?

THINK AGAIN. HERE’S HOW.

01. EMBRACE THE WRINKLES

In my experience, linen always gets a bad rap. Yes, most likely because of its propensity to wrinkle before you even put it on. I mean, fair enough. But linen's lightweight and breathable fabric will always be super chic in the most casual way. So, if you can get past the immediate creasing, I highly recommend it. After all, it's lightweight, breezy, and begging to be worn on a hot summer day.

02. PERFECT YOUR PAIRINGS

You're not alone if you are not ready to fully commit to wearing head-to-toe linen. Start slowly by balancing the look with a more wrinkle-resistant fabric like cotton or silk to elevate your outfit.

Try pairing linen bottoms (pants, maxi skirts, or shorts) with a ribbed tank, crocheted knit, embroidered top, or lightweight blazer rather than a plain T-shirt to add interest to your look.

For tops, a linen shirt's natural texture will always pair well with classic denim jeans or shorts, a silky slip skirt, or lightweight cotton pants.

03. LEVEL UP YOUR LINEN

The qualities that make linen appealing are those that make it wrinkle. Other fabrics, like cotton, will stick to the body, but linen has a stiffness that allows for ventilation. The downside of the stiffness is that it tends to crease and fold like paper, whereas other fabrics mold and spring back.

My advice - lean into linen, but do it strategically. You can quickly neaten up your appearance while still embracing some wrinkles. Here’s how.

  • Air-dry immediately after washing.

  • Use a blow dryer on damp linen to get out any significant creases.

  • Spot iron or steam - pressing just the edges of the garment. For a button-down shirt, iron or steam the collar, cuffs & center front.
