A GUIDE TO FINDING FLATTERING SHORTS

Let’s face it, finding the perfect pair of shorts is really freakin’ hard. Regardless of style, there are basic guidelines to follow when finding shorts that are flattering. It is a formula that works for most women who struggle to find a basic pair of shorts they feel good about wearing.

BREATHING ROOM

For a flattering fit, no matter what your size, choose a pair of shorts with a SLIGHTLY relaxed fit around the thighs. Steer clear of shorts that are skintight in the leg area, especially if this is an area of concern for you. Wider leg holes tend to make legs look slimmer.

INSEAMS

All inseams are not all created equal. The best way to find the perfect pair is to try on a few different inseam lengths. Skip anything too short (1-2”). A safe place to start is around 3”. If you are on the shorter side and looking for a vintage Bermuda style, go with a mid-length 6” inseam (vs. the standard 8”-10” inseam) to avoid looking frumpy. Remember, always try on several pairs and go with the shorts you feel best in.

RISE

Look for shorts that sit on your waist line rather than your hips. Mid-rise to high-rise are most flattering and forgiving.
